End of term

Yesterday saw the last sessions of regular youth theatre before we broke for the holiday…at one point this would have meant that I wouldn’t see the majority of you for six weeks and this was seen as the appropriate routine…but now all this has changed…not only have we got Nostell with a record 27 people participating and of course Danny Southern on work experience but we also have 9 day courses and Black and Ivory won’t be stopping at all through the holidays…
I like the fact that the Youth Theatre is more continual now and that with your enthusiasm and our vision we have more and more opportunities to try different things…think about the new things we’ve done just this term…I moves, Young Theatre Makers, Crimsons major performance at Cathedral and that’s in addition to making some of the more regular aspects of our work like the Classics festival and Connections at Kendal bigger and better...
What I particularly enjoyed about yesterday’s session at Gold was the evidence that some of the younger members of the company are really starting to show just how very talented they are…some of the devised scenes yesterday were beautifully crafted, they were genuinely scenes of excellent quality and this makes me so very optimistic that, as I prepare to say goodbye to some people who are intrinsic to the fabric of Yew Tree, the next generation are more than ready to step up to fill the gaps they leave in their own unique way…
So I’m going to do Nostell and enjoy every minute of it…then I’m going to go and teach at Warwick University for a week and then when I come back I can launch the next set of projects that are coming up on the horizon…I can assure you that the next term of YTYT is going to be just as creative, vibrant and hectic as the last…
If you’re taking the 6 weeks off enjoy your time away and we’ll see you in September…if you’re spending any time with us over the holidays look forward to working with you and if you haven’t decided yet remember you can book whenever you like up until the event you want to take part in is full or has happened…hope to see you soon…
