Our next blogger is Chloe!! I describe Yew Tree as the one constant in my life. I’ve been coming to sessions since I was 14, and suddenly I’m closer to my 20th birthday than I’d like to admit, and during that time, when so so much is fluid and changing, I’ve always known that YTYT will keep pushing me, keep welcoming me, keep being THAT place where you can just breathe.     NT Connections is the festival that has truly pushed me; it was during the connections week for Look Up that I decided, properly, that I wanted to be an actor. This year, armed with a genuinely good play, an incredible cast and a fantastic production team, the choice that 17 year old Chloe made, stands firm. This whole experience, playing Jo, has once again, shaped me further as an actor, and I can’t think Sarah and John enough.    We’ve had our wobbly bits; I’m the proud owner of a rather weak immune system and I’m also the recent departee of a job that required a 4am start on a Saturday, so the rehearsal process w
There are more to come but here is Eliana's insight into Hunt! I've been coming to Yew Tree since I was around eight years old and I've always loved it - but Connections this year has been my favourite production without a doubt. I'm not usually someone who lets myself be properly proud of some of my achievements, but I was unbelievably proud of Hunt even before local performances. So much work went into the play and it was so entertaining watching the play develop more and more every week. It meant that, at least for me, I got to work with people I never have before and I had so much fun every week. Being double cast was really interesting too - I was lucky enough to be able to share my part with Brooke, and it was so helpful being able to watch and absorb parts of Brooke's methods into my own performance. I have
Our first connections blog is from Sam - our unofficial but vital head of set/props and organiser of transport - she's also Emma's (who played Peter) Mum   Emma has been counting down the years until she was old enough to take part in NT connections for a long time! In 2016 she took part in her first miners’ memorial performance with YTYT, she was hooked from that day forward. She jumped at every opportunity to work with the older students. She would hear them talking excitedly about their connections rehearsals and how they were looking forward to connections week. Although she was a little too young to watch or even understand their performances due to the content, she knew and felt the buzz of enjoyment that emanated from those who took part. This just made her want it even more. Fast forward a few years and a few more miners’ memorial performances and her saying “I can’t wait until I’m old enough to do connections!” And her time arrived! She was old enough to take part in N
