Georgia's blog about Brin and his Everyday Heroes got lost in transit...but here it is now...

Summer project blog.
Waiting for Monday morning was so nerve-racking but also so exciting. Learning lines, staging, character development, and all of the our entrances and exits was definitely difficult, and at the start seemed almost impossible (especially when you have a memory like mine) however we did it and we were all so proud of the performance.
This is how we did it.... Monday morning started off in a conference room at the Hepworth as it was raining, so we did hot seating and character relationship questions which laid the foundations for our characters.
The weather turned out not to be our friend until the end of the week, so we rehearsed at Sarah T's. Tuesday consisted of staging one of the most difficult scenes the fight scene, it actually helped being in a more controllable environment for this so we didn't scare any of the public (people in the park), and it also allowed us to experiment with different techniques and make sure we got it how we wanted it. We also did character timelines to find out which events had shaped out characters, and how certain events connected us all together, these timelines helped to get a clearer picture of my character and helped me to connect with her more.
On Wednesday we were back at the Hepworth. We were able to do a run through, mainly without scripts which was pretty impressive as most lines had only started being learnt on Monday when we got our scripts. We did my favourite character development on Wednesday, which is the improvisation scenes, this exercise allowed us as a cast to develop our characters outside if the play which ended up changing (for the better) how we acted.
Back at Sarah T's in Thursday because the weather in Wakefield is unpredictable, to cheer everyone up and make sure we had all of our cast we played done games for the first part of the day. Once we had everyone we worked on strengthening each scene, and working in the fine details. Everyone was of script at this point with only a few hiccoughs on lines.
It had finally arrived, performance day, when everyone realised that we'd managed to put together an entire play in a week. Due to the nice weather on Friday we were at the Hepworth (luckily), to celebrate the end of the week we played King of the Park, which gave us a snippet in to each character, and then we did more improvisation to make sure we had our characters set in stone. We managed to get two run throughs before we performed, we all worked hard on getting the energy for the performance because it was a long day... But it must have worked as the performance went great, no line mishaps, everyone where they were meant to be, and we all managed to find enough energy from somewhere. I can't wait to perform it again in September as I already miss the cast, and the play!

If you missed it the first time it will be performed one last time at The Hepworth, Wakefield (in the playground) on the 26th of September at 6pm
