Sparking back to life...

This week it feels like everything is sparking back to life with vim and vigour…obviously all the weekly sessions aren’t up and running quite yet but there has been significant activity going on including picnics and games of that's out.  There's been hard work too and getting back into the rehearsal room has reminded me once again how much I adore my job.

Black Company was one of the sparks this week, we had our first session of the new term.  As the recent farewell blogs have indicated there has been something of a sea change in the company…many of our long serving members have moved on to the next chapter of their lives leaving considerable gaps.  Happily however as they move on however new members step up and at last count the number of Black Company company members for this term was over 20 – this is the fullest it has been in quite some time and I have high hopes for what we can produce…this week we started mapping out our version of Little Red Riding Hood which will be our offering for the Christmas shows.  Next week most of the company should be back from their holidays etc so we can really get our teeth into it! Ha...pun fully intended...

Scarlet Company were also in the rehearsal room working on pieces for the WYTDC presentation day and the YTYT 20th Birthday performances.  We’re working on three short pieces of physical theatre…each one very different in feel.  This company are a delight to work with and what’s even more exciting is as soon as these pieces are done we will be all set to start work on “Once Upon a Fairy Tale.”  Hurray for such a prospect…

We are also busily working away for our 20th Birthday Celebrations – some more brilliant people have signed up to perform at OMN and at the Scratch event or to say that they will be there as audience or that they'll send a postcard to tell us where they are and what they are doing...I hope it’s in your diary…click this link to find out more about how you can be part of it…On a very practical note we were rehearsing Mugged this week for the performances on the 18th of September and the actors were having to work very hard on the pace and the truth of the action - a real challenge but they're definitely getting there...

That's not all though - we have also been rehearsing for some of the Wakefield Litfest projects we're involved with - the focus this week has been on Living Books rehearsals where the words of sculptors tripping out of YTYT members mouths like they were there own...well we're working on it anyway...for full details of what's on in the Litfest programme look here...you'll see YTYT's name crop up a number of times...

Finally this week we received something rather lovely this week that we would love to share with you and in turn that we would love you to share with others...It says a lot about the importance of having creativity in your life and is an honest response to the question of what youth theatre and creative opportunities give to those that take part from the lovely people of Sapphire... enjoy!
