Yesterday I went to see the first performance for Performers UK which was, as I'm sure that you already know, Peter Pan, and it all but exceeded the expectations that I had for this show. Obviously I've been around Yew Tree for, forever, meaning, by default, I've been around WYTDC for a while too and these people have worked so hard, to make this, probably, the best show I've seen from them, to date.
Personally, I've seen little glimpses of Peter Pan through their rehearsals, from them just starting their dances, to hearing the songs before Eclipse rehearsals, to helping with the music through the second half, and none of that took anything away from the performance yesterday, which is surely a testament to how good these people were? The kids held their own against the older ones, and the older ones put in some of their best performances and it was SUCH a treasure in order to sit there and be able to watch, be able to take all of that in. The dances were all incredibly strong, the songs and singers were all fab and, of course, the acting was top notch. Nothing that these performers did was compromising to the other, and that's just a testament to how good these people are.
I overheard a couple who was sat next to me, who I don't think had any ties to Performers, Yew Tree or WYTDC, say that they were so impressed with the production and the high quality that they were able to do. The woman hadn't even seen Peter Pan before, and she was so impressed with what the Performers people were able to put on.
Overall, it was amazing, if you hadn't guessed. So you should all get your butts down to Airedale Phoenix Theatre, tonight, at half six, so that you can see it too and see that I'm telling the truth!

And Yana is our second

I have heard so much about the Peter Pan performance over the past few months. Both my children performed in the show, one a pirate and one a lost boy. The hard work and dedication by all the performers certainly paid off on Saturday night. The Peter Pan story was told beautifully through singing, dancing, sword fights, solo performances and 'aww' moments.
Everyone had a place and there was a place for everyone, each character was an individual even in group pieces. The music and lights complimented the performance perfectly, a truly amazing show a credit to everyone involved on stage, off stage and back stage. I'm so looking forward to the next show performed by West Yorkshire Performers.
