What's Next?

After a time of as Rhiannon put it well needed rest we were back on Friday with a full day of YTYT loveliness, there was great progress made in both the Hacktivist rehearsal and the rehearsal for Ever After, the piece we will be performing at The Hepworth on the 17th, but for today's blog I want to concentrate on the first session I did that day.

I began my YTYT term with "What's Next?" a session we run for YT member that are applying for drama school.  For those of you who don't know getting into a top flight college to train as an actor is exceptionally difficult and those that decide to attempt it have to work so hard, be so resilient and incredibly determined.  As a way of supporting this process we set up What's Next? a few years ago where I help people as much as I can through the process and develop their audition portfolio of speeches with them.  It all hots up this term so spare a thought and a dart of positivity in their direction over the next few months...

Friday's session was special because in addition to some of those auditioning we had not one but two ex YTYT members who are already in training at the session.  Their comments and ideas were both helpful and inspiring and I was struck by the generosity of there input.  To be able to show your audition speeches and songs to people who have been through the process, gone on to be successful and as a result of that and the training they are now undertaking have extra insight, knowlege and ideas to discuss and offer is a rich and brilliant opportunity.  I was also struck by the openness and acceptance of the auditionees too.  The entire session was a brilliant thing to be part of and a perfect way to start the term.
