Here's to the Volunteers...

This week is National Volunteers Week…and I thought I’d take advantage of that to highlight how much YTYT values the brilliant volunteers that enrich your Youth Theatre to a massive and wonderful extent…

This weeks volunteering began on Monday where Jack and James assisted at St George’s Playzone and then at Sapphire Company…something they do every week – Dillon and Mikey do their fair share on a Monday too it’s just wasn’t their week this week.  It’s worth noting that it was a particularly special week at Sapphire as the work Jack had been doing on his play came to a rewarding conclusion with the sharing of his work…the piece was lovely and a brilliant reflection of both performers and director, but he has given you the details of that in his blog…

On Tuesday Joanna, Jess and Merv volunteered at Ruby.  The rapport these three have with the young people in this group is second to none and has evolved through such consistent dedication.  It’s a pleasure to be in the session with them.  Meanwhile on the other side of the city Eddie, Ashleigh, Disha and Micheal were volunteering with Chris and I at Youth Music.

Wednesday – Tom volunteered at writers and Emma at Kirkhamgate.  During the day James and Jack had spent the day helping out at a primary school workshop we had been doing celebrating the jubilee.

Thursday Merv volunteered at our newest company Amber in Portobello, James stepped up again this time with Mel at Orange and on Friday Alice honoured her long time volunteering commitment at Sarah T’s.

Saturday is when it all kicks off as over at Red, Purple and Crimson company Ashleigh, Aaron and Ahmar were volunteering and then James, James, Jack, Ellie, Lydia, Amy, Alice, Micheal and Marianne all stepped up as volunteers to promote Flock to Ossett.  There was an extra session at Sarah’s due to half term and sure enough Alice was there.

Finally because there is no day of rest for Yew Tree our Sunday volunteers are Jack and Amy who wrote guest blogs…

See it’s impressive isn’t it and the above list doesn’t even count the work that our artists generously do above and beyond their set hours…nor does it mention the many others who have volunteered in the past and will do in the future…this is just this weeks list.  So thank you, all of you, you are brilliant!  We literally couldn’t do it without you…

We are so lucky to have such a richness of people who are happy to give their time, creativity and artistic talents to the youth theatre, who make Yew Tree the magical place it is…So thank you each and every one of you…
