Toni is part of Connections Company as a stage crew member

Hi, it's Toni here! A crew member for this year's connections! I hope everyone's had a great Christmas, New Year and enjoyed their time off. We, the connections group, however, were lucky to have a rehearsal while all other things Yew Tree were taking a festive break. Last Sunday, we had our first full day rehearsal for this years connections play: The Wardrobe, which is fantastic, by the way! With a lot of lines learned and not many scripts, we got to see each scene on it's feet for the first time. Although we didn't see the entirety of some scenes, we saw how much they have come together since we first started in November. The Wardrobe is different from your usual play; each scene has it's own era, plot and characters, which makes it really interesting to watch! They're also always set in the same place but the different time eras and purposes of the wardrobe make the props and set decoration different in each scene. We went through the scenes in order, the cast receiving stage directions as they went along. And, as the cast for the next scene went up, the cast for the previous scene went to work on what feedback they'd received, in another room. Being part of the crew, I got to see all of the scenes and it's really hard to pick a favourite. They range from royal sisters entering the Tudor era, to two walking wounded Victorian children, to present day friends trying to cope with school and family problems. There's parts that are serious and parts with a bit of black comedy that's balanced perfectly. Overall, it's coming together really well and I can't wait to see it performed at the end of February!
