Jonathan Hopwood with the 250th blog...

I think it is important for things to be novel. Over time I think it is very easy for something that is extremely important to you to become standard and taken for granted and I think this is something we need to rectify because, if we take something we granted, we don’t appreciate it and if we don’t appreciate it, everything becomes a bit stale. As far as I know, there are multiple ways to kick start appreciation – my most frequently used; out of my control tactic is having a ‘lack of’ this something. Not having this thing in your life as often as you would like it makes you realise how grateful you were to have it and all the things that came with it.
Another tactic into triggering true appreciation is to experience the thing going on in front of your eyes and having it spelt out to you how amazing this thing is. When you see such a display of magnificence by something that is so wonderful, not only does it primarily make you feel good inside it also takes you back to the days where you were involved in such events and makes you appreciate everything that that something has done for you.
Spending time with the creators and maintainers of that thing is essential. I believe that the people associated with that thing must have admirable qualities and characteristics due to the atmosphere created and success achieved throughout that thing. Best friends are absolutely necessary when re-identifying this appreciation that should have been there all along.
Also, personally succeeding in life and in education due to this thing is a constant reminder of how much you owe this thing and how much you appreciate everything it has done for you in the early stages of life and how much it still has to offer you as you continue through.
It is then mindblowing to think, that much effort went into guiding and nurturing me, handle multiplying that by the amount of people that attend this thing. That in itself makes you appreciate that amount of, not only work, but GOOD work going into this thing.
The last way you can reignite the, what should be, constant appreciation for this thing, is by reading this blog and realising exactly how lucky we are to have such a thing in our lives.
One love x
