Watershed moments
This week witnessed what can only be
described as a watershed production in the world of Yew Tree as we celebrated outstanding
talent in our performance of Beauty and the Beast. I’ll leave the review to Alice who has written very
eloquently about the production in her blog…instead I’ll say goodbye and thank
you to the graduating class of 2015.
Our next production for Black Company will be minus some actors that
have been part of the fabric of YTYT and they will be sorely missed.
Happily they move onto exciting new
chapters in their life and we wish them all the luck in the world. Yasmin is moving to London in
September, Dee has a place to train as an actor in LA, Rachel has a number of
professional performance contracts lined up over the summer with companies
including Euro Disney and Riptide. George will take up his place to train as an
actor at Guilford School for Acting in September and Louis at Leeds University
to study drama. Merv leaves this week to spend a summer in Disneyland Paris
playing Flynn Ryder and Spiderman, when he returns to the UK in September he
will be starting his dance training at Bird College of Dance. Charlotte who has been juggling her
career and creative endeavours leaves to continue to pursue what is already an
incredibly successful life in the world of law and Jess will qualify as a
teacher this year…finally Alice will have finished her A’ levels in a couple of
weeks so it’s off to university with her too…
What a brilliant set of young people they
are – it’s been a privilege to work with all of them…some of them for a matter
of months, some for years and some I have watched for over a decade as they
have grown from children into the brilliant adults they are now…I am proud of
every one of them and there will always be a place in my and Yew Tree’s heart
for them…I'm not too proud to admit I shed a tear or two on Tuesday night...
So what’s next for Black Company? Some of them will perform in our Summer
project – more details of that in the very near future…also I have had 5
requests to join since Beauty and the Beast so a new look company will start
rehearsals in September for Little Red Riding Hood…look out for the next
generation of YTYT’s senior company – they won’t disappoint…
