Ianthe and Amelia's YTYT Year in Review Blog for 2025!

First Ianthe share her 2025

When I look back on 2025 at Yew Tree, I feel a great sense of pride and joy. In January, I moved up to Gold Company and was absolutely terrified of the leap I thought I would have to make in my acting skills to even compare to the actors in that company. Little did I know that joining Gold Company would result in me meeting people that have made a lasting impact on me and my acting.

Gold Company’s first play this year was The Revenge of Eris, a play based on the Ancient Greek story of the Trojan War. I played Helen of Sparta and was mortified to find I would be playing the love interest for the protagonist. Helen’s character would end up allowing me to rekindle connections with past friends and develop my confidence. We also got to learn stage combat which was unbelievably fun as we had many battle scenes with swords! During these first six months in Gold Company, I became close with many of my fellow actors and I have made many memories with them that I will cherish. These relationships also allowed me to grow as a person and in my self-confidence.

After the summer, the company changed quite a bit with many moving into new companies. The constant change in Yew Tree may mean that some friends leave but there are always new friends to be made in the new members that join. Our Christmas play was called Finding Christmas and it was all about how the magic of the holidays seems to disappear as you become a teenager. This play was very meaningful to me as it encompassed many of my feelings this holiday season but it also allowed me to see how I can appreciate the relationships I have during this time.

Yew Tree would not be what it is without the wonderful Sarah Osbourne who puts so much effort into writing our scripts and running our sessions. Every week, I can look forward to those two hours on a Friday and know with confidence that I will walk out laughing and smiling. Sarah has always been a supportive figure in my life and although she can easily be frightening when she needs to, I know she will always have my back.

So I look ahead to 2026 and although the future can be intimidating, I know that many Yew Tree sessions await me, ready to put a pep back in my step during hard times.

And Amelia writes our final blog of 2025

My year at yew tree has been full of laughs as well as development. Firstly, i would like to say thank you to Sarah none of the things I will go on to talk about could’ve happened without Sarah’s support. She is the most amazing director and person in general. She knows when to push you further to help you unlock things to develop your acting potential. I can’t thank her enough for my improvement throughout this year.

I would also like to thank all of my fellow actor’s - yew tree is such a welcoming and supportive environment everyone is always cheering each other on. The people that I have met through yew tree are some of my best friends and I love them so much.

The experiences that have been opened up for me through being in yew tree are unforgettable. So thank you yew tree and thank you Sarah for all of the shows and rehearsal and memories that I have accumulated over this year.
